从顺应论视角看双关语的翻译

内容摘要


双关语是一种幽默的语言现象,更是一种社会、文化现象,同时,它也是一种交际策略,使用者利用词的读音及多义来表达两层意思:表面意思和隐含意思,从而最终达到幽默或讽刺的效果。双关语翻译,不是简单的语码转换,还要考虑交际功能和社会文化因素。如何在目的语言中既保留双关的双重含义,又不失去其幽默或讽刺的味道?不少学者从修辞格,关联理论,语义学,符号学,社会符号学等不同的角度对双关语的翻译进行了研究和探讨。本文作者试图在别人研究成果的基础上,在JefVerschueren提出的顺应论(Theory of Adaptation)的理论指导下对双关翻译进行一些探索性的研究。顺应论中指出语言的三大特征,即变异性,协商性和顺应性。前两者是基础,顺应性是结果,它能够使使用者在运用中做出灵活的变通,从而满足交际的需要。双关语翻译的核心是做到语境关系顺应。译者在语言选择过程中顺应源语、目标语语境,从而使双关达到幽默诙谐的效果。本文从语言内和语言外两方面阐释双关语的翻译中的顺应,并提出双关的翻译策略,最大程度地达到交际目的。
