新闻英语特征的功能文体分析

内容摘要

本文从韩礼德的系统功能文体学出发,对新闻英语进行了系统分析。硬新闻是报纸新闻的核心,因此本文从《纽约时报》,《今日美国》,《华盛顿邮报》,《卫报》,《泰晤士报》这五大世界著名报纸中随机选取了十五篇硬新闻作为语料。作者从韩礼德提出的作为语言情景语境层面和语言词汇语法层面中介的概念功能,人际功能,语篇功能三个角度切入,阐述了在新闻英语中情境如何推动作为语言语义层面的语言元功能的选择,而这三大元功能又如何通过及物系统,情态系统,主谓结构,信息结构和连贯系统这些手段决定语言的词汇语法层面。分析表明韩礼德的系统功能文体学理论适用于对新闻英语的分析,并且有助于更好的理解新闻英语的特征。
