内容摘要

随着经济全球化,各国家地区之间的文化交流越来越多,电影在国际文化的交流中起着非常重要的作用。在国外电影涌入国内的同时,华语电影也开始迈向国际市场。电影字幕翻译作为传递信息的媒体,其作用越来越重要。高质量的字幕翻译能吸引更多的电影观众,更好地传播文化。作为一门新兴的翻译领域,电影字幕翻译取得了令人瞩目的成果。欧美在字幕翻译策略和质量控制方面的研究都较为广泛和深入。然而,国内对于该领域的研究重视不够,学术研究滞后,严重影响了华语电影字幕翻译的发展。本研究对吴宇森导演的《赤壁》的字幕翻译策略进行分析,并从目的论视角对该影片的字幕英译进行了评价,以期望有助于提高华语电影的字幕翻译水平。本文的研究问题是：1.在字幕翻译中,哪些翻译策略比较常用?2.目的论评价下的字幕翻译的优势以及不足是什么?本研究节选了该电影高潮部分的两个长达5分钟左右的字幕,对其翻译策略进行了分析。在此基础上,本文以目的论作为理论基础对字幕翻译进行分析：在目的论的指导下,字幕翻译采用的各种策略的优势,以及由于违背目的论而造成的不足。本文得出以下结论：1.字幕翻译在时间和空间的制约下,要向观众传达电影中的重要信息,因而多采用减译的翻译策略。2.目的论可以用来指导字幕翻译。以目的论作为指导进行翻译可以有效地实现字幕翻译的目的、传达导演的意图并满足观众的期待；反之,则不能有效的传达信息,造成观众理解困难。本研究的结果对字幕的汉英翻译有一定的指导意义。希望通过本文所付出的努力,对提高实际的电影字幕翻译水平有所帮助,并能够吸引更多的学者关注电影字幕翻译这一新兴的翻译领域。
