内容摘要

传统的翻译研究往往集中于从语言学角度或从多个译本异同比较角度对译作进行各种分析,而仅关注译者的一本译著进行研究重视不够。随着二十世纪七十年代翻译研究的“文化转向”以后,译者逐渐从边缘地位上升到文化传播者的中心地位。为此,本文作者选取翻译家汪榕培的另一古典文学译作《邯郸记》作为研究对象来探讨汪榕培教授在翻译中国古典文学作品过程中,对文化因素的处理。作为本文理论支撑的是德国功能派翻译理论,其代表人物有莱斯(Reiss)、汉斯·弗梅尔(Hans Vermeer)和诺德(Nord)等。他们把翻译看作是交流行为,认为翻译研究的中心是文化转化而并非语言转换。译文的目的是翻译的最高准则,一切翻译行为都应该围绕该目的进行。汪榕培教授的翻译目的是把中国古典文化的真正面貌和精髓展现给世人,向世界传扬中国传统文化,为此他选择了地方戏曲—《邯郸记》作为翻译对象。汪榕培教授以“传神达意”为翻译宗旨,这一原则在他的翻译实践中贯彻始终。本论文从文化词、典故和语言文化三个方面来分析汪榕培教授《邯郸记》英译本对文化差异的处理。通过对原文和译文中典型例句的分析,得出汪榕培教授翻译这些具有文化特性的语言现象所使用的各种方法,以便为其他翻译工作者今后的理论和实践活动提供一些借鉴。
