报刊阅读在高中英语教学中的应用研究

内容摘要

阅读能力是英语教学和学习的四项基本语言技能中一项重要的能力,随着教育改革的深入开展,受到了越来越多的关注。为此,国家英语新课程标准和大纲对学生的阅读能力和阅读量提出了更高的要求,明确指出要积极利用音像、报刊杂志、网络等丰富的教学资源拓展学习和运用英语的渠道。长期的教学实践也表明培养学生的英语阅读能力单纯依靠英语课本已不能满足学生的需要。因此,开发利用新的教学资源十分必要。英语报刊,以其内容新、容量大、题材多样化、趣味性强、贴近生活、时代性强等特点已被作为一种新的教学资源广泛地运用到教学当中。本文对在英语教学中开展英文报刊阅读能否有效弥补传统教材的不足,扩大学生的词汇量,提高学生阅读能力进行了相关的实证研究。本研究以笔者授课的瓦房店市第三高级中学高二年级的两个平行班为实验对象,分为实验班和对照班,利用前测、后测、问卷调查、访谈等方法实施了为期六个月的实证研究。对照班采用传统的方法进行英语教学,实验班则在传统方法的基础上增加了英语报刊阅读的训练。教师指导学生在课上和课后进行《二十一世纪英文报·高中版》的阅读,利用该报设计以学生为中心的课堂活动,使学生主动参与到学习当中去。实验获得的相关数据分析结果表明,实验前两班的阅读水平相似,经过大约六个月的训练后,实验班学生的阅读能力较对照班学生的阅读能力有了明显的提高,阅读成绩明显高于对照班。数据还表明,实验班大多数学生对阅读英语报刊产生了浓厚的兴趣,实验后学生们掌握了一些阅读策略,并在词汇量和对外国文化的了解方面有了很大进步。本研究得出结论英文报刊阅读有助于提高学生的英语阅读能力,英文报刊阅读值得在高中英语教学中进一步被推广。
