从文本类型理论看“动态对等”与当代圣经汉译

内容摘要

《圣经》是基督教的经典,其历史、文化及文学等价值举世公认。圣经翻译已有两千多年的历史,到目前为止,《圣经》译本数量巨大,种类繁多,译本也有十余种。圣经翻译历来是西方宗教机构的头等大事,圣经翻译研究具有悠久的历史。作为圣经翻译不可或缺的一部分,当代圣经汉译,尤其是圣经汉译的文学化倾向值得研究。从其翻译指导理论而言,“动态对等”原则是影响较大的一个。美国著名圣经研究理论家和指导者尤金?奈达在二十世纪六十年代提出的动态对等理论,强调译者应着眼于原文的意义和精神,而不拘泥于原文的语言形式。文本类型理论则是塔琳娜?莱思在七十年代初提出的翻译批评和评估模式中的基本理论。莱思根据布勒的语言功能模式把文本划分为三种主要的类型。即表情型、信息型和操作型;建议不同文本类型应根据其各自的特点采取相应的翻译策略。本文即从文本类型理论的角度,研究当代圣经汉译和动态对等原则之间的关系,探索其中的新发现。本文在翻译例证分析方面不同于以往选择《新约》或《旧约》内容为实例,而重点考察分析《圣经后典》的翻译,探究不同文本类型在动态对等原则指导下的翻译效果。即在文学性相对较弱的文本方面(以叙事体为代表)及文学性较强的方面(以诗歌为代表,)动态对等原则能否起到同样的审美作用,能否将动态对等看作指导翻译的普遍原则,尤其是用以指导文学翻译中的诗歌翻译。文章最后总结文本类型与翻译原则及策略的关系,希望对圣经的文学化翻译及研究有一定的指导意义。本文共分为五部分。第一章引言总体介绍本文研究的背景、意义、目的、研究方法及写作框架。第二章是文献综述。首先介绍《圣经》在世界范围内的翻译史及当代圣经翻译的一些主要趋势。然后从产生背景、基本理论内容及理论影响等方面介绍文本类型理论与动态对等原则。最后指出相关研究存在的不足。第三章探讨动态对等原则对当代圣经汉译的影响。首先揭示动态对等原则盛行及遭受批评与排斥的过程分析探讨原则的本质。接着以现代英文译本(Today’s English Version TEV, 1976)与现代中文译本(Today’s Chinese Version TCV, 1979)为译例检验了该原则的效应。第四章是个案研究。以张久宣翻译的《圣经后典》探讨叙事体和诗歌体两类译例及动态对等原则在当代圣经汉译中的长处与不足。从文学翻译手法的运用方面,探讨圣经文学翻译的效果。第五章是结论。作者总结本研究的发现,指出本研究的开放性与局限性。
