狄更斯《荒凉山庄》中小说人物阶级地位及道德属性研究

内容摘要

《荒凉山庄》作为狄更斯的核心之作，清晰而完美地展现了维多利亚早中期英格兰社会的整个社会风貌。在其中，狄更斯通过全面塑造当时社会中的三个典型阶级：贵族阶级、中产阶级和无产阶级，实现了一种社会批判与道德教化的完美契合。本论文从具体文本出发，以人物阶级身份为基点论证阶级是小说《荒凉山庄》的叙述焦点，小说人物的阶级地位决定了他们的道德属性，同时小说人物的道德属性又有可能超越他们所属的阶级。由此，本论文试图展现并探讨人物阶级地位与他们道德属性之间的关系，以期能丰富、扩展对《荒凉山庄》的研究。本论文由三个章节及一个引言和结语组成。引言部分在综述国内外批评界对《荒凉山庄》评论的基础之上提出了本论文的中心论题及可能得出的结论。第一章对阶级及道德的概念进行重新界定并对维多利亚社会重新进行了阶级划分，由此提出论文的理论基础为下文的具体文本分析提供理论支持。第二章具体分析《荒凉山庄》小说人物的阶级地位及其道德属性，以探讨维多利亚早中期社会三个典型阶级的生存状态。第三章通过分析当时的社会历史深入探讨导致人物阶级地位转变的诸种原因及其意义。论文结语部分总结了本论文的主要观点并提出《荒凉山庄》是维多利亚早中期英国社会的鲜活文本历史，因为它生动地展现了当时的社会历史。小说以生动的故事情节鲜活的人物形象展现了维多利亚早中期复调型社会产生的原因、过程及其存在状态。同时，《荒凉山庄》还展现了狄更斯小说艺术创作的一大特点：狄更斯在小说中不仅批判了他所生活的那个社会之黑暗及阶级的不平等，也在评述着那个社会的道德文化生活。从中我们可以看到他对那个社会何去何从的关注与思考，对人类生命本体的深层思索。
